If you saw any of our previous messages about the texting scam or spoke with one of our team members, we wanted to follow up. The text was sent to customers and non-customers and referenced “gleenwoodstate” as the sender. As we mentioned in our previous email, this text message was NOT sent by our institution and was a phishing attempt made by fraudsters.
Please know, the confidential information you trust us with has NOT been compromised. And as always, your money is safe and sound with Lowry State Bank!
If you received this message, please delete it and report the number as spam. If, however, you clicked the link and provided any sensitive information to the fraudsters, please contact us immediately so we make a plan to keep your identity and data safe. We advise you to also check your accounts, change your online banking password, and lock down your debit card by:
- Logging in to Online or Mobile Banking
- Selecting the account your debit card is tied to
- Choosing Manage Cards from the submenu
- Selecting the appropriate card
- Toggling the switch to OFF/ON
- Note: if you have automatic payments coming from this debit card, you must keep your card turned ON or else it will decline the payment!
Unfortunately, scams are becoming more prevalent in our everyday lives, which means we need to err on the side of caution whenever we are contacted by an unfamiliar party. Fraudsters are clever but there are usually some telltale signs that should cause you to STOP and THINK before you act on it. In this case, there were misspellings, a strange sender address, and a hyperlink to an unknown destination. These are classic signs of a scam. We can say with confidence that we would never send you a bizarre message like this one.
At Glenwood State Bank, we take pride in our ability to serve you on a personal level. If you have a question or concern, you can pick up the phone to speak with a member of our team who cares deeply about your safety, security, and peace of mind. We are extremely proud to be YOUR community bank and truly view it as an honor to serve you.
